R&E Bamford Ltd. are a third generation, independently owned company who have been involved in the Animal Feed and Pet Trade for over 70 years. Originally founded in Bretherton by Robert Bamford, grandfather of the current generation, the business was re-located in 1995 to its present 5-acre site, a modern well-equipped mill on the outskirts of Leyland, Lancashire.

The Bamford family has always had a keen interest in livestock, feathered or four legged, and knowledge of nutritional requirements has very often come first hand. Involvement at breeding and performance levels as well as administrative and sponsorship links, has also led to a strong interwining of business, hobby and sport, with successful benefits for each aspect.

The main business of Bamfords lies in the supply of bird and petfoods in bulk bags: cage and aviary bird, wild bird, pigeon, poultry, and small animal are part of a specialised range of feeds, that are complemented with dog, cat, horse and farm animal feeds.

In December 2000 Bamfords acquired the Top Flight range of pigeon, cage and aviary bird, and wild bird foods from Spillers, establishing a national network of stockists, many of which are now supplied by our own dedicated transport service.

To complement the bulk bag range, Bamfords also purchased the Quinastra label from Muntons, and can now offer the option of an attractively packaged, bar coded, pre packed range of products.

Investment at Globe Mill has seen production and storage capacity increase significantly over the past few years, together with improvements in product quality and packaging.

Product development is also an important theme in company ethos. The integration of new research into upgrading our foods nutritionally, keeps the company ahead of the competition, and offers great benefits to our retailers for products at the cutting edge.
